NEW CHAPTER ON FAMILIAR GROUND

WHY A NEW CHAPTER?

This custom residence replaced the owners’ previous home on the same lot. After exploring renovation options, the family determined that building anew was the best way to create a home suited to their needs while remaining in the cherished location they had called home for years. They demolished their existing home and built anew. The result is a sophisticated interpretation of modern New England architecture, thoughtfully designed to balance timeless character with the demands of contemporary family living.

Designed as an all-electric home, the residence pairs a solar array with a multi-unit Tesla Powerwall battery storage system. The system stores electricity generated by the solar array for later use while providing whole-home backup protection during power outages. The home achieved an exceptional HERS Index score of -37 and earned the Mass Save 2026 Project of the Year Award as the single-family project with the lowest HERS Index score. Together, these features and independently measured results reflect the attention to energy efficiency, resilience, and overall building performance incorporated throughout the home.

The result is a beautifully crafted residence that seamlessly integrates architecture, interior design, sustainability, and site planning into a timeless home tailored to the way its owners live, gather, and entertain.
